With the proviso that events unfolding in Ukraine are fluid,
here are my selected today’s top stories from journalists on the ground in
Ukraine.
This morning started with tweets by Kevin Bishop @bishopk
and Christian Fraser @ForeignCorresp that they were blockaded on board the Slavutych,
which remains moored (and surrounded by Russian ships) in Sevastopol. More on
their story here:

Many journalists were tweeting about Crimea’s Parliament
suddenly holding a vote to join the Russian Federation. People following events
in Crimea will remember that there was initially a referendum announced by
Crimea, to be held on May 25, coinciding with elections. This date later moved
to March 30, then to March 16. Realistically, today’s vote by Crimean
parliamentarians means the referendum is really just window dressing. For reaction
on today’s vote, here’s Shaun Walker’s ( shaunwalker7) story:

Further reaction came from Stuart Webb @Worldwidewebb1 having
a discussion with various people in Simferopol including “a Pro Russian supporter 'guarding'
the pro Russian Crimea Parliament”, an ethnic Tatar, and others about
the Ukraine-Russia referendum:
A nice wrap up of some events over the last few days comes
from a blogger I’ve kept my eye on, not to mention his great twitter feed in
his new blog post. Graham W Phillips @BritinUkraine is an easy read:
Finally, a great documentary short from Canadian journalists
at MacLeans Magazine:
Video [A documentary short]: Ukraine
in Crisis: Michael Petrou and Katie Engelhart detail the genesis of the Russia-Ukraine conflict (highly
recommend watching) @michaelpetrou
As for you Brian-Michel LaRue, @unmaudit, safe travels enroute to your next mission and hope you found those Chicken McNuggets.
